Silent_Panther
Hi, I finally switched from 10.5.8 to SL via new installation and got me a Diamond Viper Radeon HD4870 512 MB GDDR5 XOC Black Edition to replace my old HD 3870. Everything seems to work fine except: I'm hearing a high pitch noise from my graphics card using QE. Noticed that when starting WoW Any idea what this could be? And how to solve it? My HD 4870 is shown in the profiler as HD 4890, could this be a wrong EVOEnabler kext? I had to use one because w/o it my screen was flickering every couple of seconds. Silent_Panther
Just wanted to post my findings: 1. I needed the EVOEnabler because my screen was flickering. This seems to be normal on some OC cards -> http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/273975-3...rds-4800-series 2. That the card is shown as 4890 is related to the plist entry in the EVOEnabler and can be changed there. This has no effect at all on the functionality 3. I booted up windows and noticed the same problems there: flickering and high pitch noise I'm sending the card back to amazon Now I'm in the market again for a new card since I don't want an OC model.... Which is the most compatible graphics card with SL?
