Lian Li Based Quad Core Workstation For Sale - UK ONLY

Built finished late last summer - this was meant to be my final Hackintosh. I barely used it in the end as I got a Mac Pro soon after it was completed.

It's made up of some premium grade parts including the EP45-UD3R "ultra durable" motherboard from Gigabyte and the Hackintosh classic Q6600 Intel Core 2 Quad processor. As you'll know if you've read these forums, this is a great base for a Hackintosh offering excellent compatibility with the Mac OS.

With the exception of the lower 140mm fan, all internal fans have been replaced with Noctua 120mm units. This machine is quiet and runs very cool. The Lian Li case is truly awesome. Very high quality finish, lots of thought has gone into the layout etc. Lots of space inside for components, HDDs and for stealthing your cables.

There is a 500GB drive (a Samsung I believe) in at the moment but this case can take up to 6 SATA drives. Also, there is a SATA "superdrive" installed in the top slot. I can't remember the make/details. Main components are:

Gigabyte EP45-UD3R rev 1.1

Intel Q6600 SLACR G0 Stepping

4 x Corsair XMS2 1066MHz 2048MB (5-6-6-18 2.1v)

Lian Li PC-V1010A all aluminium tower case

3 x Noctua NF-P12 Vortex Control coolers

Corsair HX 620W Modular PSU

Gainward 8800GT 512MB Graphics

D-Link DWL 547 Wireless

Oh, I just noticed, the pics were taken when I had a different graphics card in the machine. The one I have now is the red Gainward - not the one you can see in the pics here.

I'm based in Leicester in the UK and this is a UK ONLY sale. Looking for £450, cash on collection.

Hi

I'm interested in your Lian Li machine. I live in Doncaster so not too far away. However I would like to understand the feasilbilty of adding dual booting with Windows 7 and also adding additional drives (either esata or drives currently in my PC) to cover backup, Windows 7, and itunes storage. Could you advise the feasilbilty of transferring my data from my current eMAc running Snow Leopard) and my PC running Windows 7. I could offer the PC for work done and will but additional drives as required. Cpould we install EFi to allow dual booting or usea download method.

Regards

Dave,

I'm sorry but what I've got for sale here is a whole bunch of premium grade OSX-COMPATIBLE hardware. I'm not selling a working hackintosh - that would be against the rules of this forum and would also be legally dubious.

Neither am I selling my services as a data migrations / installations specialist. What you want to do is eminently do-able and this site contains all the information you need to do it. Dual booting, data migration etc is very straightforward, especially for someone as skilled as you obviously are - as you've somehow managed to install SNOW LEOPARD on an eMac. Dude, that feat alone deserves some serious recognition.

By this point your probably wondering if I really want to sell this kit or not. So am I.

Have a good day.

Hi 'nano2nd'

I understand your reservations about legality and I confirm that I own a legal copy of snow leapard.

I am interested still in your machine if of course you wish to sell it.

I withdraw my request for assistance in file transfers etc.

Did you overclock the processor and did you carry out any speed tests such as a geektest to compare performance with a Mac Pro.

If you are still uncertain about selling the Lian perhaps you would rather sell the Mac Pro - if so I would be interested in either.

Regards

Dear 'nanosecond'

Further to my last post (and a previous PM which was unread and subsequently deleted) I now withdraw my offer to buy you lian based machine.

I have in the absence of a reply purchased a Mac Pro.
