Thanks - Neer2005 As far as I know, the taskbar will not be transparent (and you will experience lower performance) until you have the drivers for your video card and have properly configured it. Without this OSX's compositing features (QE/CI) will not work, so you won't have that and some other graphical niceties. Does your System Profiler show Quartz Extreme and Core Image as being enabled? Apple has instructions on how to check here. If they are not, try searching the forums for your video card model.
