Hello people !

I am running 10.6.2, nearly vanilla install.

First at all, my Hackintosh is working perfectly if there wouldn't be this damn USB problem...

Since I installed Snow Leopard 10.6 USB is not working properly. All USB-ports are recognized by system profiler, but the ports are only working with USB 1.1 (12 Mbit).

In Leopard 10.5.8 (IDeneb 1.6) everything is fine and USB 2.0 is present and fully operational. In Windows XP everything works, too.

I tried to use the Chamaeleon USBfix string, changed the IOUSBfamily.kext from 10.6.2 to 10.5.8 version, switched off Legacy USB in BIOS, but nothing was helpful.

Does anybody know what I can do to solve this problem ? Any help would be great !!!

My current system configuration:

Mainboard: TYAN Tempest i5400XT

CPU: 2 Intel Xeon DP 5405 2,0 GHz

RAM: 4 x 4096 MB Kingston FB-DIMM 667 MHz

Graphics: Sparkle nVidia Geforce 9600 GT PCIe 512 MB passive cooled

DVD: 2 x LG GH22LS50

HD: WD5000AALS 500 GB (OS X 10.6)

HD: WD7500AALS 500 GB (OS X DATA)

HD: WD3200AAKS 320 GB (Windows XP MCE 2005)

HD: WD7500AAKS 750 GB (My Documents)

Keyboard: Apple USB-Keyboard from iMac

Mouse: Microsoft IntelliMouse 1.1

Sound: 2 x RME Audio RayDAT

SCSI: Symbios Logic LSI 21320-R

Here I got some log infos from system start:

06.04.10 22:31:33 kernel USBF: 0.660 AppleUSBEHCI[0x15283800]: unable to get filterInterruptEventSource

never mind

disabling the legacy usb in bios helped :D

Yes, I also had this problem and just didn't want to F with my computer anymore.

Bought an iphone and decided I had to. Thanks for the Tip. My USB legacy setting was set onto Auto. Moved to Disabled and things are moving right along and I now no longer get the usb 1.1 slow alerts.

can't believe i finally have an iphone

Hey Max,

Sorry for the delayed response, I wasn't following this topic.

While your computer is starting up you need to go into the bios settings until you find the USB related menu. Took me about 15 seconds start to finish, nothing complicated at all.

delete AppleHPET.kext, it will solve the problem.

And break CPU power management on a vanilla install.

If you disable Legacy USB support you will not be able to start in safe mode or do anything else that requires a keyboard before booting into OS X.

The best way to fix the issue that's being discussed in this thread is by patching USB in your DSDT, there are plenty of information on how to do that here on IM and elsewhere.
