Mouse or Video problem?

Hi everyone,

I've installed 10.4.4 from the Myzar dist, and I'm having some weird issues with either the mouse or my video card, I can't really tell whitch is responsible.

 

I'm using an ATI Radeon 9600Pro 128, and a Logitech MX510 USB mouse.

The system itself is an AMD 64 3200, 1GB RAM, Gigabyte K8NSUltra 939 Motherboard. All my parts are in the wiki as being stable, usable, parts.

 

Anyway, what happens is, once OSX starts and gets to the desktop, everything is fine. The mouse operates properly and I dont see any artifacing or tearing.

Once I launch an application, any application, the system bogs down like crazy and the mouse point starts blinking on and off (visible, invisible) at a regular rate, about one cycle per second. It's jumpy as heck too. Move the mouse just a little bit and the pointer jumps to the other side of the screen.

 

I'm not sure where to start diagnosing what the problem is, let alone what to tweak.

I can't do normal hardware troubleshooting since I have nothing to replace the hardware with.

 

Any ideas?

Hi there.. I'm facing the same problem too.. Sometimes it left some pictures (from the previous screen) on the desktop.

And I have another problem too.. After I'm using this OSX for several minutes, it respond so slowly.. Here's my spec:

Centrino Dothan 1.7GHz, 512MB DDR 2700, 9700m 64

 

Is there any way how to tweak this OSX?
