Hello Everyone!

Please excuse me for the incorrect first post as i didn't know I was running a modified Snow Leopard and therefore COULD'T update or the system would break.

After a few days of fighting I got Snow Leopard Vanilla installed via installing it from Leopard onto another partition and updated without trouble. I'll make new screenshots soon and share my experience with this setup. I have also updated my signature to show what the NEW setup can do.

One problem that still exists is the battery. Anyone else have this under their battery icon?

P.S.

When I installed a guide said to use Chameleon RC2 but after I ignored the guide and installed RC3 things went a bit smoother. For some reason RC4 gives me a bunch of errors on boot basically i think it cannot load the kext(s) in my Extra folder.

On the case of Which boot loader I used for my vanilla installation. I used Chameleon RC3 with Netkas 10.3 and as a safely measure i Have a hidden 15GB Partition with Leo installed in case something goes wrong with Snow. In case anyone wants to know the Leo install is iatkos v7. I can post the settings i used to install the iatkos v7 if someone is interested but i HIGHLY! recommend you use it ONLY AS A SAFETY! because it takes a lot of effort to get iatkos running smooth and its not even vanilla.

are you sure sleep still works on 10.6.3 after the update ? thanks

Yes with the right DSDT.aml. Sleep works. I'm still looking for a DSDT.aml more specific to my CPU but my current setup runs fine so no rush. If your looking for a DSDT.aml. search the forums for "DSDT.aml for M1530) and you'll find a topic with a post and an attached GENERIC DSDT.aml. Give it a try.

Hello Everyone,

here a screenshot of whats in my Extra Folder.

NOTE:

- The FakeSMC.Kext is from netkas.org (2.5) If you wanna see the temperature of the CPU using iStat I would recommend you get this one.

- PlatformUUID.Kext is IMPORTANT but remember you need to edit the info.plist and add the UUID of the drive that has Snow Installed or it won't work.

- You also need to set your UUID in smbios.plist

- OSXRestart.kext can be found on this forum by searching for it. It is made by Master Chief.

- To use VoodooPowerMini.kext I removed the default AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext from S/L/E As stated on a different topic.

Sincerely,

Javier Cordero

Hello Everyone,

For those of you who are more curious about my system. Here's the geekbench (32bit) test results.

Hello Everyone!

I would just to add that after some great work from Brett, We have a DSDT.aml that allows ud to shutdown. I for one am very happy becuase this bring as one step closer to Perfect Snow falling on out XPS M1530's.

On the case of speedstep. Brett's new DSDT.aml allows native use of vanilla speedstep and using coolbook I have confirmed this.

Btw, if you want to see your CPU temperatures using Mac software. You should install netkas's FakeSMC.kext into the Extra folder and then mac will be able to see the temperatures. iStats sees it for sure!

So basically. Were almost there!

Hi javiercordero20,

I did many things to get may M1530 working, but the newest mach_kernel won't work and i still use my old 10.6.1 kernel. Could you be so kind to upload the:

- Extra folder

- Mach_kernel

- Kext which are placed in the /System/Library/Extensions folder?

Thanks a lot!

any chance of getting a hard drive image of an almost perfect snow to save lots and lots of searching the forums and work for the next m1530 guy to come along?. i have SL running in a VM on a 1530 but I can't get sound working well enough for it to actually be useful, so was considering yanking out my windows drive and starting fresh with a multiboot non-VM install.

I have SL running on XPS 1530 the only problem is that sometimes restarts and sometimes hangs on black screen, I'm using osxrestart.kext. Does anyone know how can I fix this?

@rav2113 I'm a newbie but I guess that a dsdt.aml for your processor should fix speedstep, I have the same processor and a 8600m gt, if your config it's like mine you can use my dsdt.aml check this post:
