ThaShef
How come there aren't Snow Leopard Distributions like there were for Leopard. I want to upgrade my Dell 530 from 10.5.6, but I am having a hard time understanding what needs to happen, any help would be appreciated. There are......Hazard's distro and the Universal v3.6 distro......but the preferred method is a Retail OS X DVD based installation using either Boot132 method or USB flash drive method or OSInstall.mpkg using Leopard....... srs5694
There are......Hazard's distro and the Universal v3.6 distro...... I think there are a few others, too, mostly intended for specific types of installations (onto netbooks, for instance). SnowyWindOSX, for instance, for installation on MSI Wind machines. but the preferred method is a Retail OS X DVD based installation using either Boot132 method or USB flash drive method or OSInstall.mpkg using Leopard....... Don't forget Empire EFI. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/213891-snow-leopard-distributions/#findComment-1437656 Share on other sites

Yes.....you are correct, although I was focussing on the generic options........hence Empire EFI was not mentioned because in v1.08 for example, support for nForce motherboards , ATI and other non-Intel boards was removed, as it was causing a lot of problems on Intel boards, while for v1.085, the following is stated: Empire EFI prefers Intel chipset with AHCI enabled (please be sure to enable AHCI for SATA operation in your BIOS). Its recommended that its to be installed on a motherboard which uses Intel 945P/945G chipset or higher . Empire EFI v1.085 may also work with Intel-nForce based motherboards (such as ION).
