Richdave
I have just acquired an iMac and it has a little problem... The system fans run up to full speed after about 2 minutes and stay there. System temps appear OK... the system temps using temperature monitor V4.85 Ambient - 22C CPU A HS - 33C CPU A Temp diode - 32C CPU core 1 - 36C CPU core 2 - 36C Graphics proc chip 1 - 42C Graphics HS 1 - 38C Graphics proc temp diode - 42C HDD bay 1 - 41 C Mem controller - 35C Optical drive - 38C PSU pos 1- 68C SMART Disk Hitachi HDP725025GL - 40C Wifi module - 49C So doing some reading it appears that a common cause of fan run on is an incompatible HDD. My system spec is model A1224 20" 2.4 GHZ 1GB 250 GB DVDRW, EMC 2110 and all appears kosher however there is an Hitachi drive installed... I thought that the WD and Seagate HDD were used... Can anyone conform this please? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/213497-original-hdd-in-my-imac/ Share on other sites
ludacrisvp
All of the OEM HDDs and ODDs used by Apple will have the Apple logo printed on the same label that has all the hard drive information on it. No Apple logo = Not OEM Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/213497-original-hdd-in-my-imac/#findComment-1435358 Share on other sites
Richdave
thanks for that... I must admit I did not notice the Apple little logo But at least that does confirm it was OEM. Have installed a 1TB drive and just about to fire it up...
