Sivik
I just successfully installed sl 10.6.2 on a acer aspire 5810tz and everything is working like a dream. my airport is working, it's detected my router and and it's connected (asked for password). Just when i open safari it tells me I'm not connected to the internet. Going through the network manager thing it says it can't fix the problem. Is there anything I can do? If you bring up System Preferences - Network does your wireless show a valid IP for your network? Sivik
If you bring up System Preferences - Network does your wireless show a valid IP for your network? yep, it says, airport is connected to "router" and has the ip address of "ip address." SavvyX4
yep, it says, airport is connected to "router" and has the ip address of "ip address." Yeah, that doesn't sound right at all. If it isn't already set, change the Configure IPv4: drop down menu to say "Using DHCP" then hit the Advanced... button in the right corner. The first tab on the sheet that comes down should have a button labeled "Renew DHCP Lease" You need to click this button, then press the OK button at the bottom of the sheet. Once the renew is done, you should see a new IP address on the screen, something like 192.168.1.101. The last two numbers may be different, but if you still see words, then you have something seriously goofy. I just got a 5810tz and was wondering which distro you used. I'd be grateful if you could tell me how you managed to install it too. Quantum003
Did you hit "Apply" in the Network settings box? Also, please don't be offended, but after renewing DHCP lease did you try rebooting computer and recycling power to your modem and router?
