Hello!

I've been helping my friend make his old Compaq into a Mac. We've got it working fairly well, but we haven't been able to get the audio to work. (If I remember right, his sound card is called something like Realtek AC97.)

Anyway, we've decided to give up and take the easy way out by buying an USB audio interface thing. My first question is, has anyone bought this? USB Audio Interface

It seems rather cheap, I would thing this 5.1 surround sound bit is bogus, but what ever, we just need sound.

Also, I suppose a more important question would be are we going about this the right way? Like the sound card isn't working, but even so, plugging in a little USB adapter will be recognized and function just like a normal sound card?

Any suggestions or recommendations for (inexpensive!) USB sound cards are welcome!
