Black Screen after Apple

Hi all,

 

I hope you can help me. I'm running iDeneb 10.5.8 on a Shuttle SG31G2 with a Core 2 Duo and an Nvidia 8800gt. Basically, when I boot into OSX, the screen just goes to black after the gray loading screen. However, the system works perfectly fine if I boot into safe mode ("-x"). I assume that this means some extension is not properly installed- most likely the graphics one. However, I don't have a clue how to isolate and resolve this problem. If someone has some insight on what to do, I'd really appreciate it.
