Matt K.
Okay, I've recently acquired a refurbished GX520 as my "summer project computer." It has surprisingly workable specs for such an old machine, but I also bought an internal DVD drive to replace the built-in combo drive; another gig of memory; a USB wireless adapter confirmed to work with OSx86 in the wiki; and a new GeForce 9400 video card (512M). The computer came with no OS installed and, as you can probably tell by now, my goal is to install Leopard 10.5.8. I've found an excellent Kalyway guide here, which details how to get all the out-of-the-box hardware working and update all the way to 10.5.5. With that in mind, here are my questions: 1) Does the information in this guide also apply to iDeneb? I have an iDeneb 1.4 DVD that installs 10.5.6 out-of-the-box, and it does have all the drivers and stuff suggested in the tutorial. 2) Is it possible to update to 10.5.8? I'm looking for details on iDeneb mostly (something like an iDeneb combo update would be great!), but info on updating Kalyway would be appreciated too if I decide to go that route. 3) As for my upgrades... do I install everything before I install OS X, or do I install OSX, get all the vanilla hardware working, and then install my new hardware one by one? Obviously, I'm going to have to swap in the DVD drive before I can install OSX, so I'm asking your thoughts on the video card and memory mainly. Thanks for any help you can provide! I'm excited to begin Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/212895-dell-optiplex-gx520/ Share on other sites
