I hate to answer a question with a question but what boot loader are U using? Any special drivers? How are U getting your video card working?

If you are using Chameleon then U can use a direct software update.

U will probably need to back up and reinstall any special drivers (network, wireless, sound...)

If you are using Chameleon or strings to drive your video card it should be fine.

It's been a while since I installed Leopard 10.5.6 and have't kept up to date with the forums. I need to upgrade to 10.5.8 and need to know if it is possible to upgrade through Apple's software update or do i need to update another way?

thanks

Been a while since i installed, but i remember i used 10.5.5 iAtkos 5i and updated through Apple Software to 10.5.6. Does that help any? thanks

I tried updating to 10.5.8 from iDeneb 1.3 (10.5.5) running on VirtualBox 3.1.4.

It was a doorstop after the update. Actually, it didn't even complete the update.

It usually hung during the update process, and rebooting just crashed.

Fortunately, before attempting this, I knew enough to copy the hard drive VDI so

I could start over for multiple attempts (and eventually to give up).
