Hi all. I've been trying to get my Dell e521 running for about a year. The only problem. The ******* graphics card. I have an nVidia GeForce 9800 GT 512mb from EVGA. I've tried every kext, every efi string, every string you can possibly throw into the boot.plist, and I still can't make it happy.

Here's my hardware:

(Recited from memory >_<)

AMD X2 6000+ 3ghz

2g of ram

an nForce mobo(The stock one for the e521, has the embedded GeForce 6200 if I recall correctly)

PCI-E EVGA nVidia GeForce 9800 GT 512mb

Last attempted with iPC 10.5.6 PPF5

Details of the problem:

After installing the drivers and replacing the efi string and what not, I always see my monitor restart as XServer loads and the I see my cursor in the top left hand corner on a blue background. I move my mouse and one cursor stays put and the other pops out of the original and listens to what I tell it to do. So there's a ghost cursor stuck in the top left corner. Until my screen goes completely blue. Sometimes the blue goes away and I can the see my desktop and move my mouse for a bit. Sometimes I have the beloved glass bar, other times not, depending on what method I tried to get this all working. But after about ten seconds my mouse moves erratically and in short bursts. I can click things between lags but my cursor won't move. Everything renders correctly and fast when I right click so it's not just a low framerate issue. Everything just doesn't seem right.

I'm willing to admit that maybe this isn't a graphics card issue, but I honestly have no idea where to begin troubleshooting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll try anything you throw at me. If it breaks I don't care because this desktop only exists for the sole purpose of me running osx on it. Hah

You can ask questions too obviously. I'm terrible at explaining.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to use a DVI-VGA adapter in the Videocard to a VGA input in the monitor?

Yes. My monitor is VGA so I've always had a DVI-VGA adapter in use. Why do you ask?

I got my xfx 9800gt finally running properly using nvenabler.kext and a graphics enabled yes string in com.apple.boot.plist (also using chameleon boot loader not sure if this makes a difference I am kind of a noob when it comes to osx86. The issue I am having now is that i feel like video card is running hotter then it should in osx but I can't check the temp and cant spin up fan manually... If anyone has a solution for this it would be grately appreciated.
