Oczo
I would backup your data on that disk as soon as possible. If power is not removed, a hard disk only spins down unexpectedly if it is experiencing a mechanical failure of some sort. Over USB, the hard disk can spin down to save energy, but it should spin right back up if there is no mechanical problem and you initiated access at the moment when it spins down. In any case, you might find the DriveSaver iPhone/iPod touch App useful in diagnosing any sounds that accompany the hard disk right before it spins down. This is a serious issue that should not be ignored. You may have already lost data. The error message you are getting indicates that the file system was damaged on the disk. Now (as in immediately) is the time to get the data off that disk.
