waringd
Hi, I am looking for one of you lovely people to help a relative Noob to this scene. I have a working install of iAtkos v7 running 10.5.7 but I am wanting to update to 10.5.8 due to iTunes not functioning correctly with Safari 3. I have done a lot of googling but do not seem to be able to get the answer, I am sorry if it is something simple but like I said above, I'm relatively new. I have followed a guide or 2 to try and update. The things that I have tried are: - Installing disabler.kext and dsmos.kext - Installing the delta update - using OSX86 tools to repair permissions clear cache etc. - Restart... Panic! - Tried using iAtkos v7 install (DVD on USB) to reinstall the same drivers that I installed at the time of installing 10.5.7 but no luck it does the same. I have attached a photo of the KP to help diagnose the problem. Please help someone... I will be eternally grateful! Beerkex'd
The Kernel Panic is caused by the Firewire driver (as you can clearly see, look at the end of the KP in the photo). Try disabling Firewire in your BIOS. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/212134-upgrading-1057-to-1058-help/#findComment-1423287 Share on other sites
waringd
There isn't an option to disable Firewire invmy bios pheonix bios. The thing that I am confused with is that in 10.5.7 it works but when I update to 10.5.8 it KP's so something must change in the update that affects this? Beerkex'd
Then delete the Firewire kernel extensions. You can also try plugging something into the Firewire port, maybe that changes something.
