Hey all, i decided today to redo my operating systems, now thinking it was a horrible idea. I originally had OS X Leopard 10.5.8 Ideneb v1.6 lite installed on my SATA Hard drive that came with the computer as well as a couple other partitions on the sata so that i could swap files between my windows 7 OS and Mac since my installation won't read IDE Hard drives. I had windows 7 installed on An old 160GB IDE Hard drive so that i could keep all my files safe while i was trying to get Mac to install on my PC. It was a success after several months of giving up and trying. But i decied to Change how my operating systems were set so i didn't have to have multiple partitions just to swap files in between and the sata Disk has much better performance then the IDE. But after installing both operating systems (i can boot to both i watched a video on youtube from OSX86tutorials), I wasn't able to install my wireless USB LAN Driver, or anything else. Its not a .DMG mount error its the installer program that freezes before even being able to click anything, i tried install ilife 09, iwork 09, office 08. programs that before worked now don't even want to install. everything works fine of course on windows 7. But does anyone know how i can get my Mac os to install anything? it would really help because i would like to switch over to the mac partition for daily computer usage and only use windows for my gaming needs since most the games i play aren't supported in OS X and if they are i get very poor performance that i dont see in 7!

Thanks for all the help if anyone decides to respond, haven't been able to get responses from anyone on this forum unless they have the same problem!

P.S. everything else but my onboard lan hints why i bought a USB wifi, works. except the install this time.

I've also got a question for some of you here. I've got two internal HDDs and I want to make one just for OSX and one just for Windows7, is there a way to do that, or must it be a dual-boot on one HDD? Any links on HOW-TO do it would be pretty sweet guys.

I believe i can help. I had mine setup like that before, i'm sure there are other methods but i had a 160GB IDE hard drive for windows and one 640GB SATA HD for os x. you have to make sure your DVD drive is SATA and your hard drive that you want on OS x is SATA also. The way i was able to boot to either hard drive was by using the the Boot menu in my bios. Just install on each hard drive and you got your self a dual drive, dual operating system computer.

note if your using an IDE and SATA like me, you will need to form to Partitions depending on your chipset and distro, i have the AMD 780g with the sb700 chipset. OS X did not want to read from my IDE and of course windows did not either. So i just to put two partitions on the OS x drive, one NTFS for large files and one FAT32 for OS x to dump to. But you could also install in windows MACdrive 8, google it, its not free though. Good luck!

Does MacOSX need to be on a SATA drive? Because I've got my 1.5TB SATA drive for Win7 and I have my old 500GB IDE drive that's going to be used for MacOSX.

Yes most distros require that you have a SATA HDD and SATA DVD drive.

Tip: Put your system specs in your signature, it helps to know what you have before helping.

Also i still haven't got anyone's help on installing issues with OS X!!

Updated. If there's no way to install OSX on an IDE drive, I probably won't bother then. Maybe I'll try Ubuntu or something.

Maybe you could find a distro that can use IDE, the ones i've used didn't let me.

I've used for IDE and failed with: IPC 10.5.6 Leopard, Ideneb v1.3, 1.4, 1.6 Lite, XXX 10.4.8 Tiger

The only way i had OS x on my system was with ideneb v1.4 (that version i was having Crashes on installing and encoding videos. i also Used IPC 10.5.6 which worked sorta, back then i didnt have a USB Wifi lan, or a way of installing video drivers. So far the only distro that worked until i decided to redo all my operating systems was Ideneb v1.6.

Don't give up on it so easy, it took me nearly 5 months on and off, i stopped for about 3 of those months and gave up. But once i tried it again i got it to work, now i face trying to get it to work again! but of course no one is helping me on the forums!

Keep trying, keep me posted if you do get it working!
