I am tired of my mom always coming to me for help with her windows machine.

She always says that my computer is cool because I have Mac on it. She really likes the Mac Operating System, but we

don't have the money to buy a Mac. So I decided that I would surprise her and make her a mac. I have already chosen hardware for her Hackintosh PC, from what I have been reading and from what I have seen on the osx86 wiki this hardware IS compatible, but I just wanted to double check.

I want to install Snow leopard 10.6.2 just incase any of you needed to know!

Thanks in advance!

Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-G41M-ES2L

Processor - INTEL BX80571E7500 (A.K.A. E7500) Core 2 Duo 2.93 GHz

RAM - OCZ OCZ2B800C44GK 4GB PC2-6400 (DDR2-800)

Video Card - EVGA 512-P3-N987-TR Geforce 9800 GT 512MB

Webcam - I need a recommendation for one because she wants to be able to use Photo Booth

Basically she will be Editing photos, videos, and more.

I really just need to know if the Motherboard, Video Card (Quartz Extreme, etc.) and RAM will be compatible. Also I REALLY need to know what webcam will work in photo booth and it needs to be pretty good quality. I thank you guys soooo much in advance I am looking forward to your responses!

Thanks again!

I bought the exact same parts from newegg last night - less the video card. I am going to experiment with the onboard video before buying anything else. I plan on trying to use the latest Chameleon boot loader, or Empire EFI 1085. I would love to be able to use the Kakewalk installer on this board, but I dont think that there is support for this board there. I'll check in for updates...

I just got done building this EXACT system with the same components LOL!

I modded a Apple Quicksilver 2002 Case and looks 100% stock

I can tell you that pretty much was the easiest hackintosh ever to build.

My box works 100% OOB except for audio, which is just a DSDT entry and 1 kext listed below

Only 2 kexts in E/E folder:

Latest fakesmc from netkas

LegacyHDA888B

I used Chameleon RC5 PRE8 build which now eliminates the need for any restart kext, I used the GraphicsEnabler option and that saved me from having to make an EFI string.

I did create a DSDT with the standard fixes for CMOS/RTC/WAK/TIME MACHINE

Other than that, there was no other work needed.

Everything works and works well, even my sleep.
