I am posting this from my SL install on my Hackintosh so I guess I have had some success!

I have a few issues to resolve though...

1. No sound

2. System freezes after being left alone for 10 minutes - sleep issue??

3. running my old x1950 Pro as I could not even get a boot with the HD4850.

4. Still need to make the install bootable w/o the Chameleon CD

That's it for now...

I have done many searches here and on other sites and TBH as a real iNoob I don't necessarily understand the Mac-speak when it comes down to it...

Any help would be appreciated as I explore this brave new world... LOL

Hiya,

Sorry I'm not offering a solution, I've got the same mainboard, didn't you have a problem with your bios settings, which being reset after each reboot, fans revving to max, or overclock settings being st back to defaults?

thanks in advance,

Ronald

I am no over-clocking so cant comment on that however I am not seeing my BIOS resetting after each reboot nor fans revving to max.

I have 2 stored BIOS profiles - 1 for Mac boot with AHCI enable and the other for my Win installs w/o AHCI enabled. I have to choose which I want at first boot when I change OS but thereafter I don't see any reset issues if I reboot OS X install....

  • 4 weeks later...

I have installed the AHCI drivers in my win installations so now I don't have to change BIOS to boot between OS... and I had the system bootable w/o the cham CD but I broke something while trying to get my VGA working w/o the -x boot GRR...

On we go...

Ok so now I have the system booting with my HD4850 installed but ONLY if I use -x so I have a way to go yet.

I am kinda confused.. I read and read and there is SO MUCH info that I get swamped!

I am assuming that if I resolve the VGA issue I will be able to boot w/o the -x as I can boot OK with my 1950 installed.

I need a nudge in the right direction here.. Do I keep looking for a solution to the 4850 or are there more fundamentals I need to get right first?

Do I need to get my DSDT.aml right first? What about the apple.com.plist in the Chameleon partition? Do I need to get that "Right" first?

Is there a "best practice" order to logically stepping thru the various facets of troubleshooting my install?
