Dual boot always goes to XP. OSX will not boot.

I installed iATKOS v 1.0i onto a SATA drive , one partition, and it was perfect.

 

I don't want to have to switch out HDs from the computer case every time I want to change operating systems so I decided to try to dual boot.

 

The installation seems to go great. I have XP on the first primary partition (145 gig) and OSX on the second primary partition (35 gig). After the install when OSX reboots it always goes straight back into Windows XP.

 

I have chain0 in the C: drive and have changed the boot.ini file to...

When I choose OSX, the system resboots. Going to windows always works though. I have reinstalled a number of times now and everytime OS X reboots the system goes into windows. If I try OSX it just immediately restarts.

 

Any suggestions?

i had this once, got it to boot by installing chameleon 2.0 from my external hdd (with leo installed, of course)

Does any one know about Acronis OS Selector for dual booting XP and OSX?

I have an almost identical problem with windows 7 and osx. It seems to install sucessfully but then always boot to windows. I tried using Acronis but when I select OSX to boot to I just get a message saying that my windows has been damaged and I should insert my repair disk (it still won't boot to OSX)... long story short: no help there.

Same problem here, i can manually select the boot disk in bios to boot via osx, or i can do it to boot via windows. In XP I've added chain0 and so osx appears in xp boot, but as in your situation will not actually load from xp boot loader. Additionally, when booting into osx, the chameleon boot loader even sees the xp install, but won't actually load anything but the osx install. It seems like I'm so close to using chameleon or xp to load both operating systems, but I'm not sure what the problem is.

 Hi, I just joined becuase I sucessfully created a dual boot using this site for info. I had a similar problem.

 

 

After booting into Darwin or mac OSX with DVD in drive it would reboot into XP. Mine would only boot into apple with netbook set to boot from CD and disc in the drive. 

 

I created a small partition on the HDD called boot and installed the Chameleon.pkg boot loader under the mac OSX (booted from CD). The machine would only boot into XP not Chameleon or OSX even after Gparted changed the OSX or Chameleon partitions as boot

 

I ensured the XP install was boot drive using Gparted to set the tag. Then edited the windows boot.ini file to point to chain0 on the root of C: which I downloaded from net, I couldn't see it on the disc

 

Also I had lots of problems with the registration loop, I tried Kalyways and iatkos with no joy then I clicked US register and it went through a few steps! I then went back and changed to UK and it worked! still wouldn't boot though until I changed to the above setup.
