ramoz
Computer specs : Acer Aspire M1640- E2160 Intel Dual Core E2160 1.8ghz 800 2gig ram integrated nividia graphics : 7050Le , 620i I've tried IPC , i get a reboot cycle i've tried IDeneb, gives me still waiting for root device ( yes i've kept it for a long time) I've tried Kalaway just pauses and has nothing , no error, says Mac osx: not installed and a line under it and it stayed like that , line didn't contain an error or anything, looked pretty meaningless should i try other distributions ? iAtkos ? leo4all ? zephyroth ? or am i just incompatible ? i think i'm compatible though because when i checked in the osx86 wiki i saw that the intel dual core E2160 1.8ghz was working fine. mentioned iDeneb but i got nowehere with tha\ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/209790-still-waiting-for-root-device-reboot-cycle/ Share on other sites
muchlife
first of all the integrated nForce graphics (integrated nividia graphics : 7050Le , 620i) have no quartz extreme or core image support. You will need to buy a graphics card if you want full support. second, whats missing from your post is what options did you select... when customizing the iPC install, what kernel did you select? what chipset did you select? what smbios option did you select? what other patches or fixes did you select? I had an AMD processor and asus board with those same nforce chipsets and I got working with iPC although since i didnt have a spare graphics card to use on it i traded it to a friend that had a better intel machine i could hackintosh Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/209790-still-waiting-for-root-device-reboot-cycle/#findComment-1402354 Share on other sites
ramoz
i think u misunderstood what happened with IPC, i got a reboot cycle BEFORE the installer even came up, right after i hit -v on startup options, like two lines quickly came up and my computer restarted. what do u mean u got it to work on ur amd processor? u said it won't work with my nforce chipset which is the same one u said u have but it worked with u, how did it work with u ? BTW: i don't know if its ok to mention this here or not but i tried installing snow leopard on it via the usb method ( i used a laptop hardrive instead that's in a USB enclosure. it showed up as a mac snow leopard install dvd and everything but when i booted from it on my pc, it told me i have to restart my computer. any help with that ? or do i have to post this question in the snow leopard section ? muchlife
getting to the installer has more to do with motherboard/chipsets than your processor. your processor is more than capable of handling and installing osx. if your not making it there, then there is probably a bios option you need to change. i know the nforce nvidia chipsets work, i had similar chipset on a asus mini ATX board that worked fine with iPC 10.5.6 you have set to boot to DVD/CD device first, then hard drive? you have AHCI enabled (if this option exists), might be under raid/hard drive mode section of bios perhaps list here what sections and what options for those sections, exist in your bios Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/209790-still-waiting-for-root-device-reboot-cycle/#findComment-1403142 Share on other sites
