gauravkumarpassi
Hi, I request for your help to fix this issue. I'm trying to dual boot my Hackintosh between Windows 7 & Snow Leopard. I can install both the OS perfectly when it comes to individual installation but when i try to dual boot my hackintosh, its not happening. I've tried the recommanded method of installing the windows 7 first then creating a partition for OS X, formatting it in NTFS (as thats the only format option in Windows 7 as per my knowledge), mark that partition active. Then i restart my hackintosh with empire efi and start installation of Snow Leopard from my flash drive. When i go in Disk Utilities to format the partition for OS X from NTFS to HFS it gives me an error "Error: volume erase failed with error. could not modify partition map." Hence, i cant install Snow Leopard. I even tried the Zero Erase option but its again throws me the same error. Then i tried to install the OS X and then Windows 7. Windows 7 does not install on MS DOS partition so i've to format it again in NTFS and install Windows 7. After installation when I reboot, everything gets screwed up and doesnt work at all. Please Help Me!!! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/209367-dual-boot-installation-failed/ Share on other sites

oldtopman
It's because OSx(86) uses the GUID partition map while everything else uses MBR. Try my guide here.
