Nvidia 7300 Snow Leopard might cause kernel_task to go crazy

Hi there I have a little Problem with Snow Leopard, install went well, fixed a few things

 

- Install with PW5 Boot CD & Retail DVD

- Than install my hack

 

Everything seems pretty fast and nice but after like 10 minutes the kernel_task takes 90 % of the CPU and everythings gets pretty slow.

 

Could this be a problem related to the Nvidia GeForce 7300 I am using?

 

I tried different Kexts:

- NV Enabler 64 for Snow Leopard

- CoreVidea 1.1

So it fails, this is why I think the card might be the problem.

 

Thinking about buying a cheap 9500 tomorrow to see if things get fixed!

My Hardware

Asus P5W DH Deluxe (newest bios 3001 form Asus)

Nvidia 7300GT

2 GB DDR2 Ram 800

SATA HDD

SEEMS OK NOW

 

I can't exactly say how I fixed it, I did run Utility to make sure everything is ok wit the kext permissions etc.

 

I booted up in safe mode (-s tag in chameleon), it sais something about fixing something, the problem occured right after start up in safe mode ( so it wasn't a startup task as I assumed).

 

Next normal boot... everything is running great

 

Unfortunatly the 7300GT is not running as smooth, I might just pick up a 9500 for 50 bucks tomorrow!

 

All in all I am really happy to have snow Leopard now.

actually it might have been the InternalModemSupport.kext

 

will open onther topic for this, in short this is what you have to do

 

You will find IOSerialFamily.kext in /System/Library/Extensions/

 

1) Copy/Paste IOSerialFamily.kext to your desktop.

2) Right click, Show package contents, Contents, Plugins (delete InternalModemSupport.kext)

3) Then using kexthelper re-install IOSerialFamily.kext to your S/L/E

4) Repair permissions and restart.
