My dream is to make nice DVD's of old TV-series I have on DiVX-format.. Is that at all possible with OSX / I-DVD -06 ? I tried opening an episode using standard Quicktime, didn't work.. (Didn't think so either since I haven't installed any Divx codecs but I thought, hey, why not try).

So is it possible to play Divx's, do I need a codec or a new media player (like VLC etc.), and can it work

in I-DVD ? Or must I try to convert those files to another format?

...and the file I should download is Divx 6 for Mac Intel/PPC Beta2r3 right? That's the one with the encoder in it (which would allow other programs to handle the Divx format)? The one that says "Official release of Divx Player" is only the player, right (and not what I need for I-DVD)?

Will I need to make a conversion of my Divx's BEFORE using the files in I-DVD or will they work in I-DVD directly if I have Divx 6 installed?

Hope you can answer.. thx

Yes the Divx6 For Mac Intel/PPC Beta2r3 is the encoder.

and it will allow you to encode with Idvd.

But it is very very slow encoding - I did mine at max quality tho so that may be the reason. So AVI back to DVD took 3-4 hours.

I suggest you also install Mplayer and in the mplayer preferences put the

output preferences as quicktime.

This means any divx you play will use mplayer but will play within the standard quicktime interface.

If you have the quicktime pro version it will also play back in fullscreen if you want.

If not then dont set the output to quicktime and mplayer will allow you to go

fullscreen playback anyway.
