I have been at it for 3 days trying everything including 3 different distros. My specs can be seen HERE. I have attempted Kalyway,iPC and LEO4ALL. none will make it to installation by booting DVD. IPC and LEO both "still waiting for root device" and Kalyway randomly reboots before that. So i tried VMware to physical HDD. IPC and LEO would both install. kaly randomly reboots still and IPC dosent boot after install. But LEO will boot in vmware but wont boot without vmware.

 

 

 

Here is my point i need help. Links to files that i need stuff like that. My goal is to use OSX for media and vid editing and XP 64 for gameing.

I'm still new to this and I'm having problems installing myself, but I'll share my knowledge. I'm also and AMD user, I've found the problem with waiting for root device has to do primarily with the DVD drive. That error means it's having trouble reading from it, its a known problem. You'll need either an IDE DVD Drive or an External Usb drive. I'm going to assume you have a SATA drive otherwise you most likely wouldn't be having this problem. You'll also need to make sure your Sata Drives are set for AHCI mode in your Bios, not ide or raid.

 

As for reboots after install, well... once you get to the install you need to make sure the vanilla kernel isn't selected, that is a cause of reboots for non intel users. Not saying thats your problem but its one I ran into.

 

Good luck. and I'm using Kalyway 10.5.2, iPC 10.5.6 gets to the installation but it doesn't see any of my drives.

Thanks for the reply. Heres what sux i am on an IDE DVD drive and my sata is on AHCI. Ive been trouble shooting for 3 days. Could not get past Waiting for root with my drives. So now im trying to install in vmware and boot off the HDD. It try to boot LEO but Kernel panics. i think i should be able to install this way so ill keep trying different stufz.
