2600MHz
Someone else will come along for better details on what mobos and CPUs to get, but I'm quite sure you won't need to do any HW modding to get it working. Vanilla kernel is the original mach kernel OS X uses, if it's compatible it means you can install Snow Leopard without using a hacked or custom kernel. This makes for a more reliable and easier to maintain system, a bit easier to install too as I understand it. JGKC9AYC
I'm in the same boat. I'm familiar with command lines (from college courses 20+ years ago), but would like a simplified installation. The hardware I have is compatible, so no problems there. I just like the "KISS" method & hope that it'll apply here.
