Safiullah Tariq
I need help...I have an Acer Aspire One 110. I made 3 partitions. The Primary has iAtkos v 7. The 2nd one is free and i installed XP on the 3rd one. I first installed XP...it was booting fine. After that i installed iAtkos with Cameleon v2. Now my machine only boots to Mac OS X. On the boot menu i get the option of MAC and the 3rd partition. Unfortunately when I boot from the Windows XP partition...the cursor just blinks and nothing happens.. I have tried to set the active partition to the XP but nothing happens.... Please help me...i need windows also :censored2: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/208404-dual-boot-on-acer-with-xp-and-iatkos-v-7-xp-was-installed-first/ Share on other sites
agent-squirrel
I would hazard a guess you need to run a start up repair. From your Xp disk perform a repair of the MBR and then reboot. Assuming chameleon has installed to the MAC OS X partition as it does, then all you have to do is set the boot order for drives in the BIOS with the MAC drive being default. Chameleon will kick in and you should boot xp just fine. Safiullah Tariq
agent-squirrel....thanx for the reply. But i didnt understand you completely...do you suggest that i should install the XP again ? Also..i have Acer aspire one ZG5 (110) the BIOS does not allow to boot from Partitions... Dont you think that if i install XP it will overwrite any boot loader and i will loose the MAC OS (as i will not be able to boot from it)... I also tried to make the 3rd partition, the XP partition ACTIVE..but it didnt work..I am still able to boot into MAC but not XP.... Please help im lost I would hazard a guess you need to run a start up repair. Royalblader
okay think nobody has solved this yet. immah give it a try. 1. It wont boot from another partition that a primary one. - YES If this works the same way as iAtkos then you might want to consider putting in a windows installation disk. and when u did that windows will automatically check for a previous windows installed on your computer. two options here. If you´ve installed the mac on another HD not just partition but a physical harddrive. then consider disconnecting it and let the window cd search for prevoius installations... if not just give it a try it mgiht work when it searched for one and found it... itll say that u have windows xp installed already. do you want to re-install it or repair it. Press R to do so. Press are to repair it.. if it doesnt do it automatically use these commands: type in: bootrec.exe /fixmbr then type in: bootrec.exe /fixboot not sure if these commands work in xp.. but they do for vista.. this will repair the boot data and you will be able to use xp again. Hope i helped PS: Im doing that now to fix my {censored} aswell.. same {censored} here hehe Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/208404-dual-boot-on-acer-with-xp-and-iatkos-v-7-xp-was-installed-first/#findComment-1414254 Share on other sites
