Sambba
Hey! According to wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I/O_Controller_Hub ICH9 doesn't support AHCI what osx86 needs to work, but I saw people, actually many people on the wiki with base ICH9 like I do, question is how they got it work? Thanks all, I wish I get some answers! The thing I can find between all of the users they use Kalyway, it doesn't need AHCI? Point is if I use distro does it need AHCI? For motherboards that don't support ahci, there are drivers that enable ide support so SL can be installed. I've been able to load SL onto a p5kc which has ich9 but the boot hard drive has to be on sata port 1 or 2. You could use the Netkas universal AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext to load SL. Kalyway is Leopard which supports ide and ahci. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/207902-ich9-ahci-support/#findComment-1389187 Share on other sites
Sambba
Thank you so much! If I load that kext and place it to my usb can I load the SL with boot dvd like empire EFI? I also loaded iPC distro incase my SL install fails so I got leo Does it support both also? Currently my SL disc gets recognized as hard drive in empire EFI loader so I am unable to start install process. If you have a speciALLY prepared usb drive, the usb drive has the bootloader, the ide drivers, and the installation files. scrax
Visit the VoodooProjects forum. FYI ICH9 does support AHCI. Maybe your motherboard has a cut down version or it's lacking the proper BIOS support. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I/O_Controller_Hub True, for Asus P5K or P5KC you can use the P5KR bios to have AHCI enabled (losing DDR3 slot on P5KC). For what i know is an intel decision to not permit it on ICH9 board but only on ICH9+, the first BIOS for P5K was supporting AHCI, but after intel complain asus removed this option in the newer release. Thanks for the tip. I'll try to flash the bios later today. Any tips for cross-flashing or will the p5kr bios simply load onto a p5kc? The link provided says some versions of ich9, but not all, support ahci and raid. I thought the p5kc comes with the basic ich9, not ich9R. Yes basic ICH9 but is a licensing issue not a tecnical limit, also the P5K comes with ICH9 and AHCI enabled in his first BIOS version, so wikipedia is wrong, or not so clear... If you want to crossflash the bios use this command: afudos /iNAMEOFTHE.ROM /n ex. for P5KR.rom afudos /iP5KR.rom /n don't use /pbnc in the code cause it will reset you MAC addres and it's not good for Osx. I've made it with Kodakey (google it) a CD with all the asus bios needed, just burn it and boot from there to crossflash you bios Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/207902-ich9-ahci-support/#findComment-1391125 Share on other sites
