jamba77
I tried to install OS X ( iDeneb v1.5.1 OSX86 v10.5.7) on my PC, but it didn´t work so far. Basically it should work, as some users here managed it. my config: Mobo MSI P965 Platinum, 1.8 BIOS Intel Core Duo Processor E6400, 4 GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM, Geforce NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT, 256 MB Onboard SATAII controller integrated ICH8R / JMicron JMB 361 500 GB SATA DVD-RW, IDE DVD, IDE Onboard IEEE 1394 VIA 6308 PS2 Keyboard / mouse I did try to boot with iATKOS 4.1i , but didn´t work. some here did install OS Tiger, but 10.5.7 should work. BIOS settings: Virtualization enabled Execute-Disable Bit Capibility enabled Multicore enabled IDAPIC enabled Onboard RAID IDE Firewir, Audio enabled PCI IDE Busmaster SATA1 enabled, IDE Must the DVD drives be hooked up to a SATA port? the installation seems to stop (loop?) , I get the message Loading HFS +file (mach kernel) from 4230480 EBIOS read error: Device timeout Block 258448 Sectors 64 EBIOS read error: Device timeout Block 258448 Sectors 64 .. same with iATKOS ! Must the DVD drives be hooked up to a SATA port? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/207632-working-os-x-on-msi-p965-platinum/ Share on other sites
jamba77
ok, the Installation process goes on.. I now tried the version iDeneb 10.5.5. I erased the partition, I get to the disc utility, in system profiler I can see the devices, the DVD-writer as ATA, even firewire. I get to the final installation part, after choosing the fixes etc. While testig the install DVD ( before the final installation on the HD) I get the message ´DVD error´, but the DVD is in good condition. can I only use SATA-DVD-drives? Biafra Republic
iATKOS v4.1i has issues with Intel 965 type chipsets. iATKOS v7 will work; however, you will need to disable any AHCI and the IDE RAID in the BIOS, and install both the REGULAR ICHx AND JMicron kexts if you wish to be able to use both the HDD and DVD drives. Also a couple notes: 1.) I have no idea whether your Firewire will work using these directions. You have been warned. 2.) As OSX 10.5.x is a 32-bit system, the OS will only use/recognize the first 3GB of RAM, leaving you with 1GB unutilized. "disable any AHCI and the IDE RAID in the BIOS". well, that way I can´t boot from my IDE DVD-writer..I now bought a SATA DVD-writer. update will come.. jamba77
ok, with the new SATA DVD-writer the installation succeeded. I used iDeneb 10.5.7. which has the most up-to-date fixes. I could choose most of the drivers for audio, ethernet the board offers. but after first reboot now, after the chameleon boot options, it hangs on the silver apple screen..
