hi steven1313

sorry to get off the subject, but how did you get SL installed on this mobo?

what method did you use?? any mods on the bios? kexts? or dsdt's?? I have the same mobo and would like to get SL on it. you help is greatly appreciated

in regards to the sound, a quick fix would be the USB sound card. You can order on-line for less than $10. I have one and if i get this up and running i can let you know.

thanks

Man Im so glad I found this thread. I have a XFX Geforce 9300 Motherboard with onboard Geforce 9300/9400 video expandable to 512MB in bios. Great board as I have everything like lan and video working ootb. Just sound is an issue. With some kexts I've been able to unlock digital(hdmi) sound 'dont know cuz I never hooked it up', but never the regular speaker ports. VoodooHDA finds my hdmi sound also but not the onboard audio. ALC888S is the bad boy on this motherboard also. I've tried alot and its hard one.

But all bs aside tho, I had it working one time in snow leopard 64. My aunt can vouch for it as she would play games through parrallels on windows 7 on my computer in this room everytime she needs to smoke. and sound was perfect for about 3 months. Not sure what i did, what combination of kexts i used, or what. What i do know tho is there is something out there that does work but where?......WHERE?...... :(

I believe a certain applehda and hdaenabler were put to use when i had sound working. i didnt even know about voodoohda at the time.

Snow Leopard 10.6.2 64-bit was my OS at the time of sound functionality and Kext helper b7 was used also not kext utility. not sure if that matters

Hey all,

I was just recently searching for a fix to get the mic working of my Realtek ALC888S, but the sound works man, I don't know why you all have problems with the sound. The only problem here is that the mic doesn't work and I wanted to record something in Logic Pro 9.

I have a MSI GT628 Gaming Laptop with Realtek ALC888S.

Using iAtkos v7 Leopard 10.5.7 (the only thing that doesn't work is my Intel Wifi 5100AGN)

At the customize menu at sound I selected VoodooHDA only.

When installation finishes, it just works fine for me, and I'm happy now because Logic 9 is practically the only reason why I wanted Mac OSX on my laptop.

The only thing I need to get used to is when I'm plugging in headphones or external speakers, I have to select headphones as output device, else it will still use the laptop speaker.

Edit: Lol I just looked in "About this mac" and when I click on Audio it says No build-in audio, but it works so I don't care.
