2 weeks and I finally have 10.6.2 up and running, but I sense it's not running like it should. When the system is visibly functional, how can you tell what is working and then what is working to its full potential?

Example: I have a core i7 920, but am only getting ~160 for cpu in XBench (when booted from Empire EFI. I get 89 when booting from newly installed Chameleon). How can I tell if all 8 cores are working? If all the extra cpu features are enabled and in use? (System profiler doesn't recognize the CPU correctly, I'm guessing that's a start...)

And what about video cards (using 1gb 4850)? My card is recognized with full details in system profiler, Quartz is working (can see ripple effects) but it feels like it's severely underperforming in Xbench.

Is it just a matter of comparing Xbench scores with similar specs and then swapping kexts/EFI strings around to find the right match?
