steprazor
Hope this is the right place to post.. I just did the lifehacker build. Never put a computer together before and that went off without a hitch, as did install of OS for the most part using Stells Magic bootloader.. Now I'm up and running but I can't get Adobe CS3 to install. I get this error message. "This Software cannot be installed because the system of the OS volume is not supported." So from what I can gather I need to install a kext... I have kext editor and kext utility I just don't know what kext I need to install.. I haven't installed any yet. Any idea's? apple_core
What type of file system did you choose when you formatted your hard drive (before the actual OS X installation?) steprazor
What type of file system did you choose when you formatted your hard drive (before the actual OS X installation?) What it said in lifehacker build.. "Mac OS extended, journaled, case sensitive" with GUID partition.. Everything else works fine so far (cept silverlight) do I need to put some kext in? Maybe Software update the OS? to 10.6.3? thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/207433-cs3-and-kexts-on-snow-leopard/#findComment-1386273 Share on other sites
apple_core
Thanks for the PM. I forgot to check the formatting of my SL drive (on a Mac Mini not a hackintosh). A fresh install (not an upgrade) of SL on a Mac Mini formatted the drive as: File System : Mac OS Extended (Journaled) So by default it is NOT case sensitive. I think your best bet is to backup and redo your hackintosh with case insensitive formatting. Who knows what other software is going to have problems like you found with Adobe CS3. Messing around with an external usb drive formatted as not case sensitive and trying to run the Adobe CS3 from that just seems like a big hassle.
