Looking for advice on a new sound card SOLVED

I have recently completed a near-perfect install of Kalyway Mac OS 5.2.x on my Dell Inspiron 6400/e1505.

I don't have sound. My integrated sound card is 82801g ICH7 family.

 

From what I've read there is currently no fix for this. The solution seems to be to buy a new sound card. I'm a newbie, and this scares me.

 

If you know of a sound card that would work for this, let me know and I'll buy it. If not,

 

What factors should I take into account when looking for one? What determines if a sound card will be compatible with my computer?

What sound cards are there Kext fixes for?

Although I'm finding this sound issue to be frustrating, seeing that Mac desktop come up on my laptop for the first time was a pretty great feeling. Thanks to everyone on this forum for all of your guides that proved invaluable in getting it to work.
