Trizzunkz
After days of trying different methods to get the Developers Install DVD working (with Bender12's patch and MacIntelGuy's method), I finally got a working operating system on my Acer Aspire 3002LC. The problems I was having were inconsistent, sometimes I would get the infamous “Still waiting for root device”, other times it would slow to a crawl and then hang shortly after the IOPCCard line (if it was detected at all). Then one time, completely out of the blue, there was the OSX installer app sitting in front of me. But my joy was short lived, as my keyboard and track pad weren’t working, and at the time, I didn’t have access to a USB alternative. Days went by, as the old problems persisted, until yesterday, when I decided that I’d just keep trying (boot option “platform=X86PC –v –x”) over and over. Eventually it payed off, as suddenly it appeared to work again. This time I was prepared with a USB mouse and keyboard – not that they were needed this time, the built in ones appeared to be working just fine (go figure). About an hour later, the install was complete, and I hit the “Restart” button. I chose to stick with my usual boot options “platform=X86PC –v” and it worked perfectly – about a minute later I was staring at my OSX desktop. My built in keyboard and track pad, with their PS/2 interface appeared to be working perfectly. I wanted to test Rosetta, so I loaded up iTunes – no problems there (bare in mind that I haven’t applied any more patches yet, only Bender12’s ppf patch). Now I try to play an MP3 I have on my USB key, but that doesn’t appear to work (my AC97 audio hasn’t been detected). Next I try Safari. It loads up without any problems, but I get a message saying that it can’t connect to the internet. It would appear that the Ethernet controller isn’t working. So here I have an OSX install with no audio and no network connection. I can’t remember exactly why, but I decide to reboot it again, and come up with the same results. Next I wonder what might happen if I just let it boot by itself without any extra options from me. It seems to go just fine, but straight away I notice a few differences after it’s booted. Now there’s a battery icon on the menu bar, and the keyboard and track pad aren’t working. So I plug in the USB ones, and check to see if anything else is different. Sill no audio, still no network I figure the built in keyboard and mouse are a much better option (considering my lack of desk space), and reboot it with “platform=X86PC”….Just my luck. Now its back to its old tricks of refusing to boot. I haven’t yet been able to boot it in X86 mode since. So that’s my story. If anyone has any tips on how I could solve any of these problems, I would be greatly appreciative. I also have a D-Link DWL-G650 wifi PCCard that I would like to use. Specs: Mobile AMD Sempron +2800 with 256 KB L2 cach,, AMD PowerNow!™ Technology and 3DNow™ Professional Technology support Chipset: SiSM760GX 256MB DDR333 memory ATA-100 HDD 15" XGA TFT LCD with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution 16.7 million colours SiS M760GX Integrated 3D AGP graphics with up to 128 MB of VRAM, supporting CD-RW+DVD Combo drive MS Sound-compatible Built-in microphone Audio system with two built-in speakers 56Kbps ITU V.92 data/fax software modem with international PTT certification; Wake-on-Ring ready 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet; Wake-on-LAN ready 3 x USB 2.0 ports 1 x RJ-11 jack for modem 1 x RJ-45 jack for Ethernet 1 x external VGA port 1 x microphone/line-in jack 1x speaker/ headphone/ line-out jack 1 × PC Card slot (type11) 1x DC-in jack for AC adapter ACPI power management supporting Standby and Hibernation modes PS. Sorry about the length, but I figure my story might be able to help others with similar issues. *EDIT* One more thing I've just noticed, if I boot it up with any USB devices plugged in, only 1 of my 3 USB ports will work. If I plug them in after booting, they all work fine. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/2071-minor-success-story/ Share on other sites
