RaduG
Hi InsanelyMac comunity! Tomorrow I'm recieving all the hardware necesary for building a low-budget hackintosh: Intel C2D E3200, Gigabyte G31M-S2L with X3100 onboard, 2GB DDR2 Because I ran out of money, I will install OSX while having the onboard X3100 as the graphics card. In the near future I want to buy some 8600gt or 9500gt for a little performance boost. I want to install OSX via retail dvd with boot132 cd or, if it's easier to do what I intend to do, iAtkos v7. Is it possible to replace the video card and install required kexts/efi strig for it, without reinstalling the system? I think that i should add the efi string for nvidia just before installing the video card, and everything should work normally, but i' not 100% sure. Thanks guys. PS: Is there a modified bios version for my mobo out there? If not, what bios version do you recommend? Johanmartin
Hi! The X1300 graphic card can easily be disabled by editing your DSDT (Download DSDTSE and you will find a hack for it). However, it depends on your chipset if you need to reinstall or not. If you used a modified DSDT, like I do, then the system my freeze at one of the IOAPIC lines during boot if you change your hardware too much. The easiest way to get around this is to reinstall and the restore programs and such stuff from a time-machine copy. LoneWaffle
I personally have had no problems with this in the past. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/207070-is-post-installation-upgrade-possible/#findComment-1384367 Share on other sites
