I am new to the whole Hackintosh world, so, I followed Life Hacker's guide and everything worked well. However, after installation, I go back to boot from the hard drive, and I don't get the option. I don't see the grey apple screen, I don't see anything except for my monitor saying "video mode not supported". After I sit blankly for 20 seconds, it boots back off the thumb drive, and I can see again. I assume its like a safe mode type thing which is why I can see when I install, but not after with a better resolution. When I go into system profiler, it says I don't have a display hooked up.

I apologize for starting a thread with my first post, but I am out of options. I have googled everything possible combination of what is happening to me, and came up with nothing. It seems like no one has ever had this stupid problem.

I am using a vga cable with the vga to dvi converter on it.
