danerd100
Im 99% sure (Any experts please correct me if I'm wrong) Vanilla Kernel is the kernel that comes with the OS isntall disk. It is the standard kernel. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206680-kernel-difference/#findComment-1381890 Share on other sites
Paws
From my understanding the Vanilla is the unmodified kernel that comes with a retail OS X system. These (unless things have changed) only work on Core 2 Duo systems. For some of us who have processors before the C2D era and also have AMD processors, we need modified kernels such as the voodoo kernel. I don't know exactly how you figure out how which kernel is right for your system specifications if you need a modified kernel but that's where I try and search the forum. You I'm guessing are using the vanilla kernel since you followed the myhack method. Btw, they're all called mach_kernal.
