Hi guys,

After months of using iPC MacOS 10.5.6 without any Sounds, I was really impressed after installing VoodooHDA 0.2.2 . Because suddenly MacOS wasn't soundless any longer. But unfortunately my enthusiasm didn't last too long because after using the driver for a several time I mentioned that the sound starts to stutter if you hear music for more than only a few minutes. Once started, the stuttering gets worse and even stopping and restarting the sound playback doesn't solve the problem. The only way to clear this effect, is to change the "Audio-Output-Format" in the program Audio-Midi-Setup, which can be found in the "Utilities" folder. But even this solution does only work for a short time until stuttering begins again. So does anybody got an idea how solve this problem permanently?

The Audio Chipset I'm using is a: Realtek ALC 269

But the Laptop is NOT a MSI or ASUS Netbook. Instead it's a largely unknown Fujitsu-Siemens Computer called "Esprimo Mobile V6505".

I would be very appreciative to everbody who may help me.

Greetings

Updating the Chameleon Bootloader to Version 2 RC4 doesn't fix the problem but I would advise everybody to use the current Chameleon Bootloader. In contrast to older versions it looks much better due to its new graphical user interface.

So I'm still waiting for anybody, who isn't as lazy as apparently everybody in this forum. If there's anybody who might help me finding the solution, don't hesitate post your suggestion and maybe we can solve the problem.

Use this version of voodoohda.kext:

(you can find it attached in this post if you don't want to register there)

BTW in this forum, as in every other forum I see, YOU must search for what you need. And when you can't find what you want, you can ask other member but gently, or you will not receive any answer.

Saying to others that they are lazy will not help.

Thank you for your idea. I'll try it today evening.

Saying that nearly everybody in this forum is lazy was just an expression of my frustration. Because also in the past there were absolutely nobody who even tried to help me. I had to solve all of my problems on my own. Once I've found the solution to a problem I've posted it in this forum, that it might help other users with the same problem. But not either for these solutions I've got a thank you or well done. Nothing! So I hope you can understand why I've wrote something like that. Thereby the last part was not adressed to people like you, who give their best to help others. It was adressed to people who found a solution for a specific problem but don't want to invest some time in writing it down. And at last, yes I've searched for my problem but I didn't find anything useful.

So THANK YOU for your suggestion. :(

Using the kext you've mentioned in your post doesn't solve the problem. Instead the sound chip stops working completely (also visible by the speaker-symbol besides the battery-symbol, which disappears after installing the new driver).

Have you read the other thread? I suggest to leave the original AppleHDA.kext into the system folder, install the VoodooHDA.kext into /Extra/Extensions and then download and run pfix (with sudo). You'll have to remove other audio kext you installed before (including the AppleHDA.kext, make a backup copy before).

I've tried everything you've mentioned in your last post. Nevertheless the error still exists.

By the way, where is the difference between the Extensions-Folder in /Extra an the one in /System/Library/. Because the first didn't exist! I had to create it.

I know that the /Extra/Extensions folder is used only by certain bootloaders (like Chameleon, check yours if works) and it is loaded before the original /System/Library/Extensions folder.

Yesterday I've read that the /Extra/Extensions folder is used to load "legacy kexts", but I'm still studying what is a legacy kext.

If your bootloader doesn't support the /Extra folder, you have to place the VoodooHDA.kext into /System/Library/Extensions to load it.

Maybe I forget to tell that after removing the AppleHDA.kext and placing the VoodooHDA.kext into the Extensions folder, I run the pfix utility, that rebuilds kexts cache and permissions. This is (almost) mandatory.

I did everything mentioned in your last post, without success. Meanwhile I guess there's no solution to my problem or do you still got an idea which might help me.

By the way I've never used the Extensions folder within the Extra folder. I've always installed new kexts into /System/Library/Extensions and the VoodooHDA 0.2.2 kext was the very first one which worked with my Sound Chip.

Well, as a temporary solution I found, if you do indeed have the same issue as me (which it sounds like), you can open a movie in quicktime and have it run in the background muted, as long as a few pixels are showing, the audio smooths out. It's odd, and nowhere near perfect, but it works
