My dad got a Dell Latitude 610 laptop from Medtronic for free as they shifted out old computers for new ones.

We COULD not get into the Administrator account on it, so we were using a limited account in which you couldn't even change the system time on it. But the BIOS was not passworded.

I downloaded Kalyway 10.5.2 and burned it (again), and stuck it in the Latitude (after partitioning 25GB with gparted, leaving ~3GB on the Windows partition, I tested the boot and windows worked fine).

I booted to DVD expecting to install MAC right? But after selecting the Kalyway DVD, about 5 seconds into the booting of the DVD, this screen comes up:

Naturally I waited like an hour but nothing changed. I couldn't even SEE an issue in what it was saying, despite the word PANIC showing up, I didn't know what the problem was.

I booted into windows later, and it still worked. LATER YET, I try it again in some odd hope it would work, but same failure.

Can anyone shine a light in my dark cave of mystery?

(Edit: I fixed windows, I checked the boot flag for the unformatted partition, ha ha)

Just to make sure, the processor you are using has SSEE2 or SSEE3 support right? The DVD will not boot if it is not a certain processor here's a list of ssee2 processors (i've tried on a centrino and pentium 3):

If it is infact one that does support it, it should boot otherwise you must check your iso. If it came in a rar split-file and and sfv file came with it, do a checksum to make sure your disc does not have bad data.

I haven't successfully installed it myself but I see you are like me with no help so I will do what I can.

Hope it helps man.

Yeah, it's Pentium M, I've looked all around for guides and found that it's supported... but it doesn't exactly WORK.

I've Mac'd this Toshiba M115-S3094 of mine already, and it's beautiful, but this dell is giving me lip.

I'll load kalyway on this toshiba and see if it will get to the later screens like it did before.

It was a solid ISO file, though. Thanks for the effort, maybe I just have to redownload it on MY computer.

What is checksum? I burned and verified the disc with imgburn...

I tested the kalyway DVD on my hackintosh'd Toshiba, it's solid. I THINK it has something to do with the ethernet? I would not have any idea how to handle that at this point, or WHY that would freeze the install though.

On other guides I do see that the ethernet isn't supported at the end of the day. I don't mind that, I just want it to work.

IOPlugin devices...

New info:

I downloaded, burned, and tried iPC 10.5.6 on the dell, and it freezes. The apple logo stopped turning and physically FROZE, so I loaded into verbose mode and it freezes about the same place kalyway does, although NO sign of kernel panic.

I tried to put it into -s mode just to see what would happen, and the thing got all the way to the command prompt, but THEN a final ETHERNET related line came up, saying something was returning early, a signal maybe.

But I couldn't type anything in, I assume it froze again. The Ethernet is causing the problem somehow, I'm pretty sure, although I don't know how or what to do about it.
