hank2000
I've installed SL on my machine via Empire EFI 1.085. I've basically followed this: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=197470 My specs: Asus P5W DH Deluxe (2604) Core2 Extreme QX6700 2.66GHz eVGA Geforce 7800 GT 256MB PCIe 2 GB Samsung SSD Samsung SATA optical The only thing I haven't done is install the extra kexts, like VoodooHDA, USB2 EHCI, or NVenabler, because I'm encountering a problem. I'm having random DMG mounting issues. This happens about 95% of the time, which makes it kind of random. When I attempt to open a DMG via the Finder, I get a dialog box saying the DMG can't be opened. I've attached a screen cap of what the dialog looks like. I also try mounting the DMG via the Terminal and here's the output: ... DIDiskImageNewWithBackingStore: instantiator returned 0 Verifying… Checksumming Protective Master Boot Record (MBR : 0)… Protective Master Boot Record (MBR :: verified CRC32 $BF4ED01D Checksumming GPT Header (Primary GPT Header : 1)… GPT Header (Primary GPT Header : 1): verified CRC32 $D100E474 Checksumming GPT Partition Data (Primary GPT Table : 2)… GPT Partition Data (Primary GPT Tabl: verified CRC32 $D27A2F4B Checksumming (Apple_Free : 3)… (Apple_Free : 3): verified CRC32 $00000000 Checksumming disk image (Apple_HFS : 4)… __decompressChunk: returning 1000 CUDIFDiskImage::readSectors: returning 1000 disk image (Apple_HFS : 4): checksum failed with error 1000. CUDIFDiskImage: error 1000 calculating checksum Verification completed… Error 1000 (image data corrupted). calculated CRC32 $3EC96345, expected CRC32 $F53BB843 Finishing… DIHLDiskImageAttach() returned 1000 hdiutil: mount failed - image data corrupted Now, I've tried re-installing SL multiple times, and the same dialog occurs. There's a random chance I can open the DMG, and things are well. However, most of the time, it doesn't occur. I've pretty much isolated the problem to when I install the myHack package. When I boot off Empire and before I install the myHack package, I have no problems opening DMG files. However, when I run myHack, installing the bootloader on the hard drive, and reboot, I start encountering this issue. I've exchanged hardware to see if that's the problem, but it still persists. Has anyone encountered this on their setup? Is this fixable with a kext? Is it possible I don't have enough ram (more is on the way)? Thanks for looking... bigpoppa206
Why aren't you just using a retail disk and doing it that way? There are several threads on here already for the P5W and they DO work. Since search is broken on this board, go to Google and type in site:insanelymac.com P5W "Snow Leopard" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206574-sl-on-p5w-dh-deluxe-dmg-image-data-corrupted-issue/#findComment-1381174 Share on other sites
hank2000
I guess I'm mis-understanding what you mean. I'm using a retail SL disk to install via Empire EFI (ie boot with Empire EFI on CD, and then swap for Retail SL disk), which was the "simpliest" method found via google. I am investigating other methods.
