Cobalt69
Ok i really Just need a bit of guidance (maybe im doing something wrong) ok so i have a Gateway DX 4200 series computer it has a foxconn mobo, a Phenom x2, 6gigs of ram,and an ATI HD 4850... so i installed Ideneb v1.5.1, 10.5.7 once on an 80gig ATA usb drive and the install was a success well after finding i needed an ethernet driver i was shutting down to load back in windows and in the process got a kernel panic, well after getting the needed Kext i went to load back in Mac and it wouldnt load the video drivers i could see it start up and b4 it got to the login ...screen goes blank i could hear it but not see it so i figured well ill ust reinstall and this time use my main Hard drive 600gig SATA.. so i partitioned my drive in half being it wouldnt let me use the whole drive (yes i deleted windows) i also made sure the newly formatted drive was in mac os format and it is a GUID partition i did all the install as normal this time i noticed that under the ati tab i could choose my specific card(thinking that may have been the problem last time as i chose all ATI) i only chose my card this time so i have chosen the 1. voodoo kernel 2. the ALC888 audio driver 3. the via/marvel/ chipset (as it said for most AMD) 4. the ATI HD4850 driver 5. No Ethernet (seeing as i have to install it after installing) Now that all is installed i get this screen http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/4464/sany0396.jpg And if i load in verbose it shows this error http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/9701/sany0398w.jpg Any Help would be Greatly appreciated Also sorry if i posted in the wrong area Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206474-help-please-gateway-dx4200/ Share on other sites
Lanceomni
Welcome to InsanelyMac! You will generally want to post with some more detailed information about the chipsets on your motherboard. From the model number it looks to be an AMD 780g northbridge and maybe a sb700 southbridge. Your chipset information is vital. You can also place this information in your "Signature". It will then appear on every post you make. This can be done via My Controls: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...rCP&CODE=00 Please follow the rules described in this thread (Most importantly keeping your signature to no more than 5 lines of normal text: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...p;hl=signatures Still waiting for root device This is generally one of three things: 1. If you are using PATA (The old IDE Ribbon Cable Drives) you will want to make sure that the drive you are installing to is set to MASTER via the jumpers and the actual drive itself. Id also recommend that you have the drive on the cable's first connector. 2. If you are using SATA drives try going into the BIOS and changing the SATA Mode from AHCI to IDE. 3. Chipset related. If your booting the install disk and are getting this issue and the first two do not fix the problem its probably chipset related. In the case of SATA, some motherboards have more than one SATA control and so one or the other may be compatible. You can check your user manual or online to see if this is the case and then plug into the appropriate connector. * Also a quick search pulls up this post talking about those same chipsets (http://www.infinitemac.com/f19/780g-chipse...-support-t1411/) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206474-help-please-gateway-dx4200/#findComment-1380869 Share on other sites
