hi to everybody.

i used to run 10.5 on my eee 701 netbook (i915 chipset). everything was running fine (graphics, lan, audio....) but some time later the external hdd where leo was installed broke. meanwhile, i managed to broke the screen too.

so now i want to reinstall leopard on that machine.

the install was easy, since i connected the external disk to my desktop and i installed the os (of course i installed the vga driver too (the one present on the ideneb 1.4 dvd)), but what can i do now (the system boots up fine, i can see on the external monitor both the post and the gray apple with the spinning wheel, then i can see for a fraction of second a blue screen and then the monitor led blinks, which means "no signal". i've tried pressing fn+f5 (controls the only internal/only external/both monitors thing) several times, but it didn't work (probably is a driver-controlled thing, since i remember having problems with it in linux too).

is there a way to configure the displays without using system preferences (maybe something like xorg.conf on Xorg)?

thanks in advance for any help

PS: sorry for my bad english, but it isn't my first language :(

I'd try booting up in safe mode, using -x.

with -x i can see a screen with nothing more than the mouse cursor, i think that osx thinks that the internal screen is the primary one.

##update##

installed on the desktop, set system preferences to open on startup, pressed 9 times the tab key and then the spacebar: the display applet opens and now i can configure the screens
