Milch
Hello community, after having made good experiences with OSX on an upgraded iBook (RAM & HDD) and being a bit bored over the holidays, I decided to install OSX on something with more than 300 Mhz. After reading a lot of tutorials on this site, I thought I'd give my Asus A8Jp a try. I bought a new HDD to install everything on, using the retail 10.6 DVD + Boot SL 132 CD method (BootSLv3-wifi-noextra.iso). The installation went smoothly. I created 2 partitions on the HDD, the first for OSX with GUID option enabled. But when I try to start OSX I get the following Kernel Panic: panic(cpu 0 caller0x29e3d): "Should have 2 Threads, but only found 3 for Die 0" My guess would be, that I need a different boot loader. The question is, are there other CD ISOs I should try or is there a way to install a boot loader using the terminal of the 10.6 retail DVD? At the moment I don't have access to a system running OSX and a DVD drive For reference, here are the specs of the laptop: -Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2 GHz - Intel 945PM Mainboard -ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 - 256 MB -AD1986 HD Audio -Realtek 8169/8111 based LAN -Intel Wireless Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206450-problems-with-1st-start-of-sl/ Share on other sites

Milch
Look into DSDT patching.. You need to patch your DSDT file. Thanks, that got me one step further Now, after adding my patched DSDT to the boot CD I get stuck with the following error "ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::pushCPU_CSTData - _CST evaluation failed" during Ethernet initialization. I will try adding the kext of the Realtec NIC to the CD, if that doesn't work, the problem probably is still with my DSDT, which would leave me clueless again Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206450-problems-with-1st-start-of-sl/#findComment-1382328 Share on other sites
