Hi all,

I'm new here. Already got Mac OS running on my old Acer.. But I'm thinking about buying a new notebook, and therefore wondering if it's possible to install a distro onto a HP dm3 intel version (sold as HP dm3-1040ez in Switzerland). Here are the specs:

  • Intel Pentium SU4100 (64-bit)
  • Intel GMA 4500MHD
  • SATA HDD 500GB @ 7200rpm
  • 4GB DDR3 RAM
  • Intel 802.11 a/g/n
  • Integrated Bluetooth

Does someone know about how HP hardware is supported by the distros (iATKOS for example)? What are you thinking about Intel 802.11 Wifi, will it work (just a bit unsure because I got a damn Atheros or Realtek chip in my computer now...)..

Would you recommend another distro?

Thanks in advance!

(sorry for my english.. still learning..)

I'm posting this from a DM3 running 10.5.6 at the moment. It's barely working, installed via iDeneb. I have wired ethernet and bluetooth working. Also the webcam. Doesn't detect usb insertion. I'm working toward fixing it up but the settings I used are:

ACPI 10.5.6

PS2Fix

IDT sound

ICHx fix

Vanilla kernel

battery manager

nvdarwin 512

iousbfamily

cpus=1

@shadowmite: Nice! Glad to hear that it's basically working. Thanks for settings :P

What about the integrated wireless card? And how long does it take to boot (on my old Acer it takes around 3 minutes... enough to get a coffee xD)?

I now ordered the new dm3 model with nVidia GeForce card and realy looking forward to get MacOs running on that system.
