holloweyed
I tried installing iDeneb 1.4 image (Leopard 10.5.7) by booting from a DVD-R. -v mode gives the "Still waiting for root device" error. This is all before installation begins. I tried another iDeneb release but ended up with the same problem. PC specs listed below. topov13
Hi I am getting the same error on my install onto Compaq Presario f500 with AMD Sempron processor. I am using iDeneb 10.5.5 distro. This distro worked on Dell Optiplex 755 (Sata Drives) & HP 6710b laptop - again Sata Drive (with the expected hardware issues ie sound & networking) The problem I am getting is I exactly the same as yours - on the install with the -v switch (Nothing to change in the BIOS for HDD mode) so I am stuck. Any help extremely grateful PS Newbie to the Mac OS Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206203-error-installing-ideneb-v14-on-amd-still-waiting-for-root-device/#findComment-1399632 Share on other sites
CyrisPC
you didn't list your hard drives also do you know what chipset your northboard is? your probably having the same problem I was having. I had to set my raid controller to achi and boom every distro started booting at least the install discs do. also you amd processor have nothing to do with this error if you had some random kernel panics then maybe. but IDK wait for one of the gurus I just recently decide to start seriously working mac os x86 but I'm a advanced linux and windows user so.. kd4lsy
I had this error on my HP Pavillion ZV540us. The solution was to use an external DVD drive, however, I ran into another error and thus was required to use iatkos, which still didn't work, but, for all purposes, I'm sure if you have an external dvd drive, that should work.
