Scout98
Hi guys, I'm real close to completing my machine, but ethernet is still a problem. I have just got done trying my 2nd Ethernet card, and both times I get a self-assigned IP. I Obviously know that these cards go bad, but I'm thinking there's something more to it. Machine below: Intel - i7 - 920 Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Graphics - 9800 GT Ethernet - Netgear PCI GA311 I've tried messing with different kexts, but to no avail. I am able to get network preferences to say that I am connected via a static IP, but there is no internet coming through that connection. I've really searched long and hard through the search box, but have come up with nothing that works. I was hoping someone could give an idea of what to do next or send me to a post that deals with this. Thanks in advance. Scout98 -SOLVED- I finally fixed my Ethernet problems after much research and many trial and errors. After looking at more posts, I found a comment relating to the EX58-UD5 and the Extra folder. Some people were having trouble getting their internet working using Cybex's Extra Folder, while someone else had a fully working system using BiTRip's Extra folder. I was previously using Cybex's Extra Folder and decided to give BiTRip's a try. Well, to my surprise, the Ethernet card worked immediately. However, I no longer had QE/CL and couldn't figure it out. So on a hunch, I decided to start mixing and matching some of the files. Turns out, it was the smbios.plist file in the Extra folder. I used Cybex's Extra folder and swapped out his smbios file for BiTRip's smbios. Started her up, and I had full QE/CL and Internet. So, if you can't get your Ethernet Card to work, maybe try messing with some of the files in the Extra folder. Maybe this was a no brainer, but I'm just a "noob". Cheers!
