duscar
I'll be using my hackintosh and all of a sudden the screen will just go black and the monitor backlight will turn off like it has no input, but the computer is still running. I can reset it and it will work fine until this happens again. Anyone know what this is? System stats are in my sig Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206095-screen-randomly-goes-black/ Share on other sites

jeffrey1790
I have the same board. When I get home, Ill upload my dsdt, that may be causing it. Are you using an EFI string, or a VBIOS? Also, PCI-EFI or chameleon? EDIT: Check your sleep settings in System Prefs. Beerkex'd
Make sure your monitor is plugged into the output closest to your PCs motherboard. Use an adapter if you have to. sixstrdave
Hi all - noob here sorry to post in this thread - I can't start a new topic as a new poster and this issue sounds closest to what my hackintosh is doing: I used sojugarden’s myHack Installer 1.0 RC5.2 (with chameleon): Just a few minutes after booting into Snow Leopard, my screen blinks (very quick flash of black screen), and then freezes (but doesn't stay on black screen). My mouse cursor still moves, but I can’t click on anything. This doesn’t seem to be a system halt (it doesn’t unfreeze). Rather, it seems that the system keeps running (I hear my hard disks still going if the freeze occurs during an operation). I’ve installed all software updates (I’m on SL 10.6.2), tried trashing the dock.plist (sometimes it freezes when I use the dock), checked the pciroot, ensured that my graphics card (nvidia 9800) is accelerated and checked that the display refresh rate is the default for the card. Pfix and repair disk permissions haven’t helped. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Any help is much appreciated... Thanks!!! Here are my specs: Intel Core i7 Processor i7 920 Corsair TR3X6G1600C9 XMS3 6G RAM Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 NVIDIA/EVGA 9800 GT 512 MB Sony Nec Optiarc DVD Drive Corsair CMPSU-750HX PSU 2 1 TB WD Caviar 7200 rpm HDs Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206095-screen-randomly-goes-black/#findComment-1421803 Share on other sites
