fearandleb
Hi there, I downloaded Autodesk Smoke for Mac Trial from the Autodesk Homepage. Now I try to run it and want to generate a license file with the Get DL Host ID Tool (which is delivered within the package). Everytime I run the tool it says: dlhostid (build 173) - Copyright © 2005 by Autodesk, Inc./Autodesk Canada Co. All rights reserved. Error: Disk drive failed to return data ***Error: Unable to determine the host ID of this machine. logout On the Macbook it works flawlessly, just not on the hackintosh. Any advice where to look? Thanks a lot... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/205923-question-about-autodesk-smoke-for-osx/ Share on other sites
digital_dreamer
You need a UUID injector for your system. Either use the PlatformUUID.kext (Snow Leopard) or UUID.kext (Leopard) with a UUID string inside. See the New Releases and Updates forum for this. I'll be curious about this Autodesk release. I'm waiting for the Mac version of Siemens UGS NX to try out. To bad there isn't a SolidWorks version. MAJ Edit: Well, I can't find the exact location for these kexts, except to say just about any kext bundle will include it.
