Hello, everybody, I have a little question.

I have 10.6 instaled, everything is fine, but I have network problem.

I setup network & everything is work good, internet speed is ok - but when i try to connect to server near me (in my local subnet) it takes really long time before login window comes up. Already tried change network interface order - did not work for me. BTW - when i try reach my local server i use comm + K, then IP address (no DNS) - so I think it cant be DNS problem. Also I disable IP6. It seams problem in my system or just miss-configuration something.

Ping to this server works fast, traceroute -n - fast too, but without "-n" - takes long time (about 10 sec)

my Mobo has 2 ethernet interface, but only one is online.

Any suggestion ?

Some time ago, I remeber I sow the same in mac pro. I think it is not "hackintosh" problem.

It could still be a DNS problem. A reverse lookup of the IP address *might* be happening in the background, thus delaying the actual login sequence.

I've seen this many times with SSH servers. People say the same thing, "but I ssh'd to the IP address". Yes, you connected with an IP address but the other end may be trying to lookup the IP to record in its logs and what not.

Hello, first - thanks you for answer.

Let me introduce my system: I have 2 HDD hackintosh, first HD is iAtkos 10.5 instaled, second 10.6 retail.

Mobo is Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 - has 2 Ethernet interface.

Network configuration the same in both systems, but in 10.5 everything is ok, but in 10.6 this trouble.

PC at home, I have small local network behind cisco pix, so I use ISP dns. To communicate each other i use ip address. My hackintosh has 192.168.19.2

when i traceroute my self it takes about 25 sec before it done but I see

hackintosh:~ alexpronin$ traceroute 192.168.19.2

traceroute to 192.168.19.2 (192.168.19.2), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets

1 192.168.19.2 (192.168.19.2) 0.126 ms 0.040 ms 0.020 ms

hackintosh:~ alexpronin$

so traceroute takes less then 1 sec! but why it is takes so much time?

second test

hackintosh:~ alexpronin$ traceroute -n 192.168.19.2

traceroute to 192.168.19.2 (192.168.19.2), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets

1 192.168.19.2 0.128 ms 0.014 ms 0.012 ms

hackintosh:~ alexpronin$

answer comes immediately !
