alpha175
hello guys, my name is Lucas. Lucas is an incommon name, so call me L. I was trying to install Mac OS in my notebook, but i had a problem. I follow this guide, cause my notebook is a dell vostro 1520, and everything went well. The only problem I had was my keybord. I can't use my keybord when the mac boot up the first time, so I can't create an user and enter in the "desktop" of the Mac. Someone help to solve this problem please? Thanks [sorry about my english mistakes, thats because i'm Brazilian, and I love english and I'm learning this language.] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/205457-problem-with-vanilla-install-on-my-vostro-1520/ Share on other sites
audit13
Try using a usb keyboard and mouse to complete the set up. Then try Voodoo's PS2 kexts to solve the problem. I have got a usb mouse, but I don't have a usb keyboard, and I can't buy one. Actually, thats my problem, complete the set up without a usb mouse. Can I install the voodoo's ps2 kexts without completing the set up? or can I intall that kexts by the terminal, on another mac intalation DVD? or can I intall that kexts with a linux live CD, when the mac is already installed? how can I do that? audit13
Here is step 1 from the guide you lonked in your post: 1. Copy the files in /Vostro1510/Extra or Vostro 1520/Extra to /Extra on MacintoshHD What you should try is download the voodoo ps2 kexts (there should be 2 files). Just copy them to the /Extra/Extensions on MacIntoshHD. If there is no folder labelled /Extensions under /Extra, just create the Extensions folder and place the 2 PS2 kext files in the /Extra/Extensions folder. Since you have no kb under SL, you'll have to do this under Leopard or on another Mac. The problem is that I cant get into the mac desktop, because I need a keyboard to creat a user before. THATS exactaly my problem.... theres another way to put this kexts on the MacintoshHD? audit13
Do you have a version of Leopard that will work such as Kalyway, iDeneb, etc and an external usb drive? You could install and boot Leopard off the external and make the necessary changes. audit13
You could leave SL onyour laptop and boot an external drive that has Leopard installed. There would be no need for using the terminal because you could user FInder in Leopard to drag & drop.
